On Beauty – Zadie Smith (Penguin Design Awards 2007).
The book On Beauty by Zadie Smith is a novel about two families of completely different backgrounds and walks of life, and essentially two of them becoming a couple, filled with affairs and sexual scenes it depicts there life, becoming of and the darker side of love. I represented this through use of a 50’s style houseware tablecloth and type to reminisce. Sexual references are portrayed tastefully through the phonetic sounds generated by the repeated ‘au’ and the flowers for the blossoming and fateful love.
